Overview

In Bhutan Land of Thunder Dragon Tour we have included Paro traditional architecture city tour, Thimbu sightseeing, Bumthang heritage site tour and Punakha natural site trip. The highlight of the trip is historical and cultural Paro including Tiger’s Nest monastery, Magnificent view of Nepal and Bhutan Himalayas by scenic flight to and from Paro, Unforgettable view of Tsendagang, Terigang, Jejegangphugan Mountain, Dochu-la pass (3,088m), Abundant flora and fauna and the National Library in Thimphu. Thimpu is the current capital city of Bhutan and Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan, which is the winter residence of the chief abbot and monks.

Itinerary

Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu (TIA) to Paro Airport (2195m/7200ft)

Fly from Kathmandu International Airport to Paro with Druk Air, Bhutan’s National Airline. Our representative will welcome you in the Paro airport. Drive from paro to Thimphu which is the capital of Bhutan and the modern town of Bhutan it has about 90 thousands inhabitants.Today you will see the National animal, Golden Takin, Zulekha nunnery, National Handicraft Emporium and in the evening walk to Thimphu city. Dinner and overnight Stay at Thimphu

Day 02: Thimphu sightseeing tour

After breakfast, full day sightseeing. We will visits to Memorial Chorten(stupa), the most impressive stupa built in 1974 by the Grand Queen Mother Ashi Phuntsho Choden in the memory of the Third King of Bhutan; National Library which holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts, manuscripts and also modern academic books; Handicrafts Emporiums that displays wide range of beautifully woven fabrics for man and women, crafted products and other decorative items; Painting School,famous for traditional thangka paintings from where you can also buy if u like them; Institute of Traditional Medicine where rich herbal medicines abundant in the kingdom are prepared Tashichhodzong. Dinner and overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 03: Drive from THIMPHU to PUNAKHA

After breakfast you will proceed to Punakha which is acroos Dochula pass (3,100m). The pass offers the most spectacular view over the greater eastern Himalays including the highest peak of Bhutan. En route you will make short excursion about an hour to the temple of divine. You will visit Punakha which was the previous capital city of Bhutan till 1955.Dinner and overnight at Punkha.

Day 04: Drive from PUNAKHA to TRONGSA

Today we will drive early to Trongsa which is about 4-5 hours journey which is located in central part of Bhutan. Check into hotel and after some rest, visit to Ta Dzong(Musuem) and Trongsa Dzong(Fortress) Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 05: Drive from TRONGSA to PUNAKHA

Drive back to Punakha valley for overnight, crossing Chendebji Stupa. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06: Drive from PUNAKHA to PARO

After breakfast we will have short excursion to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten. This Chorten is dedicated to our present crown prince and for the world peace. Which has fascinating paintings and statues of tantric teachings then Hike will take around 45 minutes each way. Later drive to Paro via Thimphu. Free walk in Thimphu City, the best place to buy souvenir from Bhutan and then drive to Paro.Dinner and Overnight at Punkha.

Day 07: PARO (DAY HIKE TO TIGER’S NEST)

The challenging hike to Tiger’s nest which is almost 3 hours hike also you can take a horse ride. Taktshang which means the Tiger’s air, a Buddhist Monastery perched on a steep cliff is another awe striking place. After lunch you will take to visit Ta Dzong built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, currently the National Museum that once served as the watchtower for Paro Dzong; Drukgyel Dzong built in 1647 by Zhabdrung to commemorate the victory over Tibetan invaders in1644 which is now in ruins; Kyichu lhakhang, one of the most sacred temples in Bhutan built in 636 AD by a Tibetan King Songtsen Gompo. It houses the Crowned Buddha (Jowo) and Padmasambhava.Dinner and overnight stay at Paro.

Day 08: Final Departures

Fly from Paro to Kathmandu.
